Tactical buyer role

Processes building the basic knowledge of a tactical buyer role

At Learn How to Source, the tactical buyer role (introduction and basic level) is built around several key processes essential for effective procurement. These include conducting spend analyses and market analyses, managing the sourcing process (which covers basic international sales law), and fostering supplier development.

Additionally, tactical buyers must focus on knowing their suppliers, performing supplier audits, and ensuring product qualification.

These processes are typically found in a mature procurement department, and a tactical buyer should understand not only their purpose but also how to apply each process effectively, depending on the category in question.
